“The orientation days help freshmen to get their bearings and to get to know each other. What's special: It’s the students who plan and carry out these events.”
What is this study programme all about?
The study programme qualifies you for the different professional fields of social work. After six semesters, you will be able to apply and critically review explanatory and action approaches to social work in a theory-based and practice-oriented way.
In addition to the focus on counselling, you will also expand your knowledge of four other forms of action:
- group pedagogy
- media design and communication
- case management
- community work / social space orientation
You will apply your acquired competences in study and practice projects. Two practical phases are integrated into the study programme. Because the study programme already involves so much practical application, you can shorten the year of professional recognition by up to six months to obtain state recognition.
What can I do with it later?
After graduation, your prospects on the job market are as diverse as your studies were. You can work in all occupational fields of social work (social work/social pedagogy), e.g.
- working with socially and economically disadvantaged target groups
- working with mentally ill people
- working with children and young people
- pursue your academic career further by applying for a Master's programme.
What makes this study programme special?
This programme is based on three pillars: practical orientation, areas of specialisation in the different disciplines and internationalisation. A special feature is the socio-spatial orientation of the programme with a focus on rural structures and its excellent networking in the region.
And one thing is particularly important to us here in Holzminden: intensive and individual supervision during your studies in order to prepare you optimally for the job market.
