Markus Schlegel (*1965 Stuttgart) completed an apprenticeship in screen printing, trade fair construction and advertising technology at Guttenberger Objekt Design in Kernen i.R. He then studied chemistry as a chemical engineer. At the same time he worked as a freelancer for HKS Architecture- und Colordesign and Guttenberger Objekt Design.
From 1994 onwards, he was employed by ArtaKraft GmbH, Sika Chemie and Deutsche Amphibolin Werke. In 1998 he took over a leading position in the industry in the area of DAW color design and product development.
In 2002 he was appointed professor for project development color in the competence field color design at the HAWK Hildesheim. In 2004 he founded and managed the Institute international Trendscouting IIT HAWK with a focus on future research in design.
He is founder and partner of the ColorConceptLab office partnership for color and architectural design, color master planning and interior design. In 2012 his book “Stadtfarben”, strategic and sustainable planning of urban space and atmosphere through color master planning was published. He is the author of numerous publications and studies on color and futurology in design. Markus Schlegel is a member and curator in the German Color Center DFZ on the topic of future research color.
