• We are open to all doctoral students, but also to other early-career researchers and individuals with research interests throughout HAWK.
  • Every faculty has a seat on our committee, but all members of the Association see themselves as representatives for everyone.
  • We organise events for doctoral students and others and promote networking and information sharing.
  • We facilitate communication between doctoral/other students and other university bodies/individuals etc. in the event of any problems or questions.
  • We are also committed to improving the overall circumstances of doctoral students beyond HAWK and are calling for the legal path to be cleared for doctorates to be awarded to academics with strong research skills at universities of applied sciences in Lower Saxony.

Research Focus

Young people in peripheral rural areas face a dual challenge when making decisions about their lives. Unlike their peers in the city, they don’t just have to think about which profession will suit them. The decision to “leave or stay” plays an additional role for these young people, as it is often unclear whether they will be able to achieve their personal goals in their home region. Career guidance does not yet reflect this double burden. The ZZHH project JOLanDA (funded by the BMBF) will examine approaches to life choices and develop a digital application to improve guidance skills.

Ziele in der Promovierendenvertretung

  • University-wide networking for early-career researchers
  • Greater visibility for the diverse research activities at HAWK HHG
  • Promotion of inter-institution collaboration on doctorates

Elections to the Doctoral Students’ Association will take place next year. If you are interested in applying, please contact the HAWK graduate school by e-mail.
