HAWK Department of Design launches “Designkiosk 2019”, Almsstrasse 34 Hildesheim
The range of goods on offer includes soaps, candles, toiletry bags, shoulder bags, ready-made and mass-produced jewelry, hand-shaped objects and ceramic vessels, printed clothes and miscellaneous accessories. Dainty necklaces and earrings by Cathleen Kämpfe, M.A. student in Metal Design, for example. Being understated is the best form of bragging. This is what comes to mind when you set your eyes on the delicate structure of the necklaces and pendants – forged from gold-plated or blackened silver – that she lays out carefully with gloved hands in the window display. What is show-stopping about her earring design are the apparently transparent strips of lenticular foil, a material normally used to make lenticular prints – better known as “wiggle pictures”.
The origins of the Designkiosk, namely printed graphic work, can be found in the boldly-colored and well-designed silkscreen prints, etchings and other print techniques. Anything from little gimmicks to cards and graphic art in large wall formats can be had. Organization team members, including the students Farina Lichtenstein, Mirjam Römer, Leonie Egge, Clara Happ and Marcel Kreipe, head of the Fine Art Print Workshop of the Faculty of Design of the HAWK, will be displaying a sizeable number of their own works.
