Excursion to places where the influential art school was active

Publishing Date: 04.07.2024

Once again this year, a Bauhaus excursion took place as part of the ‘International Studio’ module. 12 international students from the architecture and interior design degree programmes at HAWK partner universities in Belgium, Canada, Peru, Spain and Turkey as well as HAWK students from both degree programmes took part in the excursion.

The excursion started in Weimar, the ‘birthplace’ of the Bauhaus, where a visit to the Bauhaus Museum was also on the programme. During a walk, the students also explored the Bauhaus University campus with Henry van de Velde's buildings. The visit to the Anna Amalia Library also gave the students a brief impression of classical Weimar.
Following the historical route, the group then visited the most important Bauhaus buildings in Dessau, the Bauhaus building and the Masters' Houses. The excursion ended at the Bauhaus Museum in Dessau.

In the cross-faculty module ‘International Studio’, international exchange students work together with HAWK students from the Faculty of Architecture, Engineering and Conservation and the Faculty of Design on an interdisciplinary conversion project under the direction of Pia Danner, Thomas Kauertz, Martin Kuhlenkamp and Prof. Günter Weber. The course language is English.
