Selection criteria

Universities use selection criteria to decide which applicants to admit to restricted-admission study programmes. The criteria serve as measurable minimum requirements for applicants.

Selection criteria are set by the individual universities. They are based on the number of available places and the number and quality of applicants.

Possible criteria for entry to a study programme

• Average grade achieved in university entrance qualification
• Number of semesters between qualification and attendance of university (Wartesemester)
• Results of selection interviews, aptitude tests etc.
• Extracurricular activities such as practical experience, voluntary service, etc.
